March Tit ( Parus palaustris)
March Tits and Willow Tits are about as common as each other and, although not rare, are much less frequently seen than Blue Tits and Great Tits.
The March Tits call as a wide range of notes usual with tits, and two or three characteristic ones which are the best means of telling it from Willow Tits , in other words, 'pitchuu', a scolding 'chickabeebeebeebee', and a harch 'tchay,, not unlike the Willow Tit but less nasal and usually preceded by 'pitchuu'. The song, usally rendered 'schip-schip-schip' or 'schuppi-schuppi-schuppi' is also quit distinct from the Willow Tit.
