A couple of years ago, when Unnecessary Stories was just starting out, and when the idea of living through a pandemic was unimaginable, I made a video telling the story of Adidas and Puma. In it, I explained that—and spoiler alert—the fight between their owners distracted them from a giant that was beginning to emerge: Nike. I closed the video with the phrase, "But that's a topic for another video." Then I forgot about it.
This year I was going to do it; I even had a date: November.
However, a few weeks ago, Nike contacted me to do a campaign for their 50th anniversary, so I decided to move the video forward. And, after writing a few books, here it is.
