「Learn Japanese」 How-to say “become (ADJECTIVE/NOUN)” with (ADJECTIVE/NOUN) + なる To express that something becomes a certain adjective or noun, the verb なる, which means “to become,” is used. For adjectives, the stem of the adjective is used with the respective particle, depending on whether it is an い-adjective or a な-adjective. For い-adjectives, the particle く is used and for な-adjectives, the particle に is used. The particle に is also used for nouns. Example(s): 私は強くなりたいです。 Watashi wa tsuyoku naritai desu. (I want to become strong.) 先月家賃は高くなりました。 Sengetsu yachin wa takaku narimashita. (Last month my rent became more expensive.) 毎日のように勉強したから日本語が上手になった。 Mainichi no you ni benkyou shita kara nihongo ga jyouzu ni natta. (Because I studied almost every day, I got good at Japanese.) ジョージワシントンはアプリケーションソフトウェアを完成した後で有名になった。 Jouji Washington wa application software o kansei shita ato de yuumei ni natta.
