Eight candidates running to represent District 6 on the San Antonio City Council in the 2025 municipal election participated in a debate hosted by the nonprofit San Antonio Report newsroom on April 11 at the Boeing Center at Tech Port. Candidates: Vanessa Chavez Kelly Ann Gonzalez Ric Galvan Carlos Antonio Raymond Chris Baecker Bobby Herrera Gerald Lopez Lawson Alaniz Picasso Moderator: Andrea Drusch, government and politics reporter at the San Antonio Report -- San Antonio’s City Council District 6 encompasses most of the city’s far West Side. Longtime Councilwoman Melissa Cabello Havrda (D6) is leaving the seat to run for mayor and eight candidates are running to take her place.
