Prior to the hearings Mr. Canseco had sought immunity and had suggested that he would invoke his Fifth Amendment rights if forced to testify. He did not invoke those rights at the hearing. Other players testifying denied using steroids. On August 1, 2005 Mr. Palmeiro received a ten day suspension from baseball after testing positive for steroid use.
