DAV has named Dr. Kenneth Lee, a combat injured veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom, as its 2017 Outstanding Disabled Veteran of the Year. On Sept. 12, 2004, while deployed to Iraq as the commander of Company B, 118th Medical Battalion, a suicide car bomber drove directly into Dr. Lee's convoy. Lee sustained an open head traumatic brain injury, numerous shrapnel wounds to his legs, and the beginning stages of PTSD. After struggling for years with the dark aftermath of his wartime injuries, Dr. Lee began the long road to personal acceptance and treatment. Today, through adaptive sports, he helps other veterans with their recoveries. He's also a volunteer physician at the National Disabled Winter Sports Clinic, which the VA and DAV co-host.    • DAV's 2017 Outstanding Disabled Veter...
