This is one of the most unique spots in the Linville Gorge. Many years ago there was a house here, but all that remains today is a huge daffodil garden. Daffodils bloom in very early spring, so there's a limited time in which you can catch a glimpse of this annual occurrence. Check out these favorites: • Linville Falls:    • Linville Falls - Plunge Basin & Erwin...   • Grandfather Mountain (to Calloway Peak):    • Grandfather Mountain - Calloway Peak,...   • Zigzag Falls (Wilson Creek):    • Zigzag Falls - Cinematic Drone Footag...   Follow us on Instagram:   / nc_waterfalls   • Like this video if you love to hike • Subscribe to this channel to help us keep going • Share with a friend who needs to take a hike Whether it's responsibilities at home or simply another hiking destination on my list, it seems like something is always happening, during the six to eight weeks when daffodils are blooming in the Linville Gorge, that keeps me from completing this hike. However, on this particular day, things just worked out. My son and I were driving around the area with intentions of checking out a place Swiss Cheese on the eastern slope of the Linville Gorge. We heard that rain was coming into the area and that part of FR 210 leading up to FR 99 was closed. Rain and blocked roads are not a good combination, so I changed course and headed towards the Wilson Creek area to do a different trail. As luck would have it, that one was a closed too. Next we traveled to the parkway for another trail but it was also closed. Then I remembered that Daffodil Flats wasn't far away from where we were at that moment and I'm glad things turned out the way they did. Even with the difficult elevation gain during the last mile, It's not a bad hike, but hiking back out is a real challenge. Seeing the daffodils in bloom was something I've always wanted to do, but never took the time to do it. That's an illustration for life sometimes, isn't it? How many times do we say we're going to do something but we don't? Then we put it off until another time and another time until the opportunity has passed. This is one of my main motivations for hiking. For most of my life I lived in and around the North Carolina mountains. It wasn't until I moved away that I realized there were so many things I never did, but always wanted to do. For example, I went to Grandfather Mountain with my grandparents as a kid. Later in life, I took my own kids. But, I had never done any serious hiking there. North Carolina is an absolutely beautiful state. You have to get out there and see it for yourself. #linvillegorge #hiking #mountains
