The ongoing Exhibition at Al Mahatta titled ‘Architectural & Urban Development of Sharjah: Spatial Analysis of Museums Typology’ from 16th of December 2019 to 15th April 2020 has focused on the burgeoning museums typology established through sixteen museums within the umbrella of Sharjah Museums Authority in 2006 under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, UAE. These sixteen museums form the core of this exhibition.
The importance of museums typology as an integral part of the urban fabric and development of the Emirate as well as the City of Sharjah in the historic and current context is the focus of ‘Architectural & Urban Development of Sharjah: Spatial Analysis of Museums Typology;’ that is the title of this exhibition as well as the book published by Sharjah Museums Authority and written by Researchers at the School of Design & Architecture, MAHE Dubai on this ongoing research since 2013.
The macro analysis concentrates on the impact of museums typology on the urban and architectural landscape of the Emirate of Sharjah through the argument on the question of further reinforcement by using this typology and broadening the role and jurisdiction of the Sharjah Museums Authority.
