Safeguarding and conserving plant genetic resources is a necessity to achieve food security objectives for African communities. Through the TAVI (Taiwan Africa Vegetable Initiative) project, funded by MOFA Taiwan, the World Vegetable Center (WorldVeg), the Laboratory of Genetics, Biotechnology and Seed Science and other partner institutions are aiming to be a major asset in the development and implementation of conservation policies.
