"Dous Makos” is one of the most traditional Haitian desserts you’ll ever have. It’s a type of fudge with a neopolitan effect (vanilla, pink and chocolate)! It originates from Petit-Goave, Haiti and the spices and flavors in it makes it one of my favorite Haitian desserts ever!
INGREDIENTS:
2 cups sugar, 1/2 cup whole milk, 1 stick unsalted butter, 1 can condensed milk, 1/4 tsp nutmeg, 1/4 tsp cinnamon, 1 tsp vanilla extract, 1/4 star anise extract, 1/4 cup sliced almonds (optional)
TO MAKE THE LAYERS:
1/4 tsp red food coloring
1/4 tsp unsweetened cocoa powder
TOOLS:
1 thermometer
1 8x4 pan
1 sheet parchment paper
