Custom built self replicating 3D printer / rapid prototyper. A 3D CAD file is processed into slices that are then sent to an Arduino micocontroller that is connected to various electric stepper motors, heating elements, and thermistors. The printer then takes in plastic wire from a spool, heats it up and deposits a molten plastic bead .35 mm in diameter one layer at a time. About 120 hours went into research, development, building, programming, testing, and tinkering.
