In partnership with Community Energy Scotland and COMSIP Cooperative Union, Community Energy Malawi piloted the Sun Ovens in two biomass dependent Bakery Cooperatives of Chang'ombe and Sakata in Kasungu and Zomba Districts. The Sun Ovens have eased the drudgery associated with firewood use, allowing the members to have mire time for other productive activities. With 68% women membership in the cooperatives, the project has combated gender inequality and men's participation in baking has increased as the Sun Ovens are smoke free.
