Each shift at the Daviess County Fire Department brings new opportunities and challenges. Spend a day with the 2nd crew at the Airport Station under Assistant Chief Eric Coleman. Daviess County firefighters typically report for duty at 6 a.m. and remain on shift for the next 24 hours, working every three days. One firefighter is dedicated to the Airport at all times and checks the runways for foreign object debris (FOD) each morning. Watch as the firefighters complete their daily chores and make breakfast before advancing to different training scenarios. On this day in March, they were also called to a field fire in Stanley. The 2nd shift crew at the Airport is comprised of Lieutenant Brian Cecil, Engineer Sam Henderson, Firefighter/Paramedic Casey Hamilton and Firefighter/Paramedic Pavel Zbořil. Engineer Quinton Pence also appears from the East Station. Daviess County is blessed to have a dedicated, full-time career department that responds to structure fires, vehicle accidents, medical emergencies, water rescues and other calls.
