“When you are born disabled without arms or legs or missing body parts in Afghanistan, you are considered hopeless.” Meet Abbas Karimi, a Para athlete refugee who did not want to be defined by the barriers put up in front of people with disabilities in his native Afghanistan. He now hopes to join the Refugee Paralympic Team to make his dreams true at Tokyo 2020. The International Paralympic Committee's vision is to make for an inclusive world through Para sport. Our mission is to lead the Paralympic Movement, oversee the delivery of the Paralympic Games and support members to enable Para athletes to achieve sporting excellence.
