🎥 Ever wondered what it takes to whip up a Font Awesome launch video? For starters: A real diner, a hot dog suit, and a whole lot of pancakes. For Font Awesome 7, we leaned into our "always cooking up something new" theme and went full-on retro diner. Because what better way to launch a fresh batch of icons than with a heaping helping of nostalgia, comedy, and digital flapjacks? In this behind-the-scenes mini-doc, we take you onto the set where: 🍽️ Continuity matters – Welcome to the Font Awesome Cinematic Universe (FACU?), where returning characters like Rob and Steve keep the chaos consistent. 🌭 A hero emerges – Milton spent 12 hours in a hot dog suit. Was it necessary? No. Was it iconic? For Font Awesome 7, we leaned into our "always cooking up something new" theme and went full-on retro diner. Because what better way to launch a fresh batch of icons than with a heaping helping of nostalgia, comedy, and digital flapjacks? In this behind-the-scenes mini-doc, we take you onto the set where: 🍽️ Continuity matters – Welcome to the Font Awesome Cinematic Universe (FACU?), where returning characters like Rob and Steve keep the chaos consistent. 🌭 A hero emerges – Milton spent 12 hours in a hot dog suit. Was it necessary? No. Was it iconic? Absolutely. 🥞 The Pancake Incident™ – Albert had to react to thousands of digital pancakes falling on him … which, on set, meant real pancakes being launched at his face. 🎭 Ad-lib gold – Some of the best lines weren’t even in the script (like Rob’s existential gem: “I don’t know, I’m just a person on a screen.” Mood, Rob. Mood.) 📍 Location matters – We shot in a real diner, complete with retro charm, history, and possibly a few ghosts from 1972 (they didn’t ask for SAG rates, so we let them stay). 📹 Isaac documented the chaos – This was our first time making a BTS mini-doc, so naturally, we captured everything — butter pat dilemmas, frozen sundaes sprinted in and out of freezers, and Milton refusing to break character. 💡 And because we can’t help ourselves, we snuck in Easter eggs, too. If you freeze-frame just right, you might catch: 🚀 A certain Font Awesome co-founder raising a glass of blue milk (Aunt Beru approved) 📜 Hidden inside jokes on the menu board for true FA nerds 🛸 Nods to Star Wars, Back to the Future, and more — because we cannot stop sneaking in pop culture references So Why Do We Keep Making These? Because it’s fun. Because it makes tech feel human. Because a marketing video should make you laugh, not make you want to skip it.
