Welcome Chuckels and Thackory to the Kansas City Zoo! Our koala friends are on loan through November as part of the San Diego Zoo Koala Education and Conservation Program. The koala is one of the most iconic animals in Australia and is known for its giant ears and fuzzy fur. Eucalyptus makes up most of a koala's diet but is fibrous and low in nutrition. The leaves require a lot of energy to digest so these cuddly marsupials sleep up to 22 hours a day! Be sure to stop by the Zoo soo to visit Chuckels and Thackory while they are here!
