About 50 trucks travelling over about 13 farms in the Ngaroma area of the North Island of New Zealand. Close to the centre of the North Island. Although designed to be a Shiny trip there were a few scratchy areas. It is very hard to cater for everything from brand new to the tough trucks as far as good 4wd'ing terrain goes. The trip was a fundraiser for the Ngaroma Hall organised by the Te Awamutu Rotary Club but with a very late notification of this trip the numbers were about 1/3 the entries of the normal annual trips they run. Registration and Scrutineering was the Te Awamutu Sports Club Rooms on the Friday afternoon and although the Registration was a bit slow and unorganised Greg Paul soon got the Scrutineering under way while the dozen bods who all looked totally confused in the Registration office got themselves sorted out. With thanks to the Sponsors, NZ4WD Magazine, The Honda Shop Te Awamutu, Wilksbrooke Motors and 4WD Fibreglass Te Awamutu were offered a few great spot prizes on Registration. There were five or six on Trail Bikes with both Video and Still cameras which will result in a Professional Trip Video and a couple of thousand Photos for each entrant after the trip. The Pro Video from the last of these trips I did was awesome and I do have it up on youtube for anyone interested, plus my own footage of that past trip. The meal at the Hall on the Saturday night was Wild Pig on the Spit and an awesome dessert. Somebody told me they found some lead in their meal so I guess someone went out and shot the Pig. I had meal tickets for all meals but since i was staying in Te Awamutu instead of Camping missed the Saturday evening meal. I kind of regret that now:-( BTW McDonalds does not come close to Wild Pork, I had some of the Pork for lunch on the Sunday it was fantasitic. According to the blurb we were given: 56 Vehicles, 107 People, 17 4WD Support, Vehicle Breakdown: Lada 1, Toyota 12, Nissan 15, Izuzu 1, Jeep 2, Land Rover 12, Mitsubishi 2, Suzuki 1, Ford 1, Holden 1, Mazda 1, Mahindra 1, Kai 1. Don't get me started on the pretend 4wd's LOL:-) Thank you very much to David Samuel, Greg Paul, Kevin Archer and King Country 4x4 Club and the Rotary Club volunteers for putting on a great trip, I may see you again next year.
