Watch Part 2 of our Sutton Hoo series here!    • The Sutton Hoo Dig Part 2 | Another B...   Hosted by Tony Robinson, Time Team’s historic dig in an Anglo Saxon cemetery at Sutton Hoo gets underway. It’s one of the most important archaeological sites in the world, famous for the Great Anglo Saxon Ship Burial. The team undertake a month-long dig in Garden Field to try to find the origins of this incredible site. If they can understand what’s happening in this field, they might be able to understand the entire site including the Royal Burial Ground. They join forces with Prof. Martin Carver and a team of archaeologists who dug the Royal Burial Ground in the 1980s. In Part 1 of 3 parts following the first season at Sutton Hoo, Tony and the team get stuck into the first week of excavations, and delve into the history of the site. Tony reveals how the discovery of the great ship burial changed our understanding of Anglo Saxon society.. The Team begin to suspect that a cemetery under the Visitor’s Centre extends into Garden Field. And a strong metal detecting signal suggests to the team that they might have found the missing parts of a rare and beautiful Byzantine bucket partly ploughed up 30 years ago. Dr Helen Geake reveals her very personal connection with the site, which goes back to her student days, when she and other members of the team discovered some extraordinary burials under the other mounds in the Royal Burial ground. Dr. John Gater reveals the Geofizz that he and Jimmy Adcock did in 2021 and Stewart takes a wander through the landscape. ** JOIN TIME TEAM ON PATREON! ** Support Time Team by becoming a patron and get access to exclusive behind-the-scenes content here:   / timeteamofficial   Presented by Sir Tony Robinson The Time Team Prof. Stewart Ainsworth Prof. Henry Chapman Ivan Clowsley Dr John Gater Dr Helen Geake Prof. Carenza Lewis Penny Lock Jackie Mckinley Dr Derek Pitman Naomi Sewpaul Dr Lawrence Shaw Peter Spencer Adam Stanford Hilde Van Der Heul Keith Westcott Matt Williams Dani Wootton FAS Site Directors Justin Garner-Lahire Cecily Shakespeare FAS Archeologists Andre Copp Jenny Glazebrook Madeleine Hummler Richard Jackson Geophysics Jimmy Adcock Dr John Gater Simon Haddrell Mike Langton Andreas Viberg Contributors Angela Care-Evans Prof. Martin Carver Jonathan Clark Dr Stuart Eve Catherine Hills Giselle Kiraly Paul Mortimer The Sutton Hoo Textiles Interpretation Group Dr Sam Newton Annette Roe David Roper Angus Wainwright Detectorists Dave Crisp Paul Hemmingway David Millington Tom Redmayne Alix Smith Alan Tamblyn David Ulke Keith Westcott Emma Youell Cameras Sam Bignell Rob Goldie Will Fewkes Steve Shearn Additional Cameras Emily Boulting Sophie Goss-Garnham Karen Kirk George Pagliero Felix Rowe Ellie Utili DIT Ellie Utili Sophie Goss-Garnham Drone Justin Garner-Lahire Steve Shearn Adam Stanford Sound Steve Bowden Tim Mills Communications and IT Mark Haworth Graphics Matt Clark Neil Emmanuel Illustrations Victor Ambrus Neil Emmanuel Kate Morton Juliet Giecco Photography Harvey Mills Image Credits Brenda Brown Eric Houlder (FRPS) Nigel Macbeth Suffolk County Council Archaeological Service (SCCAS) Felix Rowe The Trustees of the British Museum Archive film Graham Moore and students of Harrogate College of Art The Trustees of the British Museum Production Team Barbara Alam Kirsty Arthur Hannah Darling Alex McDonald Rebecca Mumford Anthony Sayers David Trewin Talent Liaison/Stylist Anthi Kay With thanks to National Trust, Sutton Hoo Laura Howarth Allison Girling Joshua Ward The National Trust Chris Fern Suffolk County Council Archaeological Service The Sutton Hoo Society Rayban/Canoe inc Omnitapps South West Domes Robert and Pat Hemingway Hall Alex Schultz Time Team’s Patreon Supporters Music Paul Greedus (original theme) Steve Day Jas Morris Ardie Son - Visions (Artlist) Tristan Barton - Rainbows (Artlist) Production Manager Carol Hendry Location Unit Manager Kerry Ely Researcher Ellie Utili Onsite editor Sophie Goss-Garnham Onsite Vision Mixer Marcus Reid Online Producer Felix Rowe Producer and 2nd Unit Director Karen Kirk Voice Over recording Mann Bros.
