On May 8, 2024, Tera Fong, Director of the Water Division for the Environmental Protection Agency’s Region in Chicago, serving the Great Lakes States and 35 Tribes, joined us as the keynote speaker for the “Water Innovation for Wet and Dry Lands: Between the Great Lakes and the Middle East” symposium. This event was Northwestern’s Eighth Annual Symposium on Water in Israel and the Middle East and was co-organized by the Northwestern Center for Water Research, Israel Innovation Project, and Current (Chicago). The symposium was also a part of the 2024 Chicago Water Week. Opening remarks were given by Christopher Schuh, Dean of the Robert R. McCormick School of Engineering and Applied Sciences at Northwestern University. Greetings were given by Elie Rekhess, Crown Visiting Professor in Israel Studies, Director, Israel Innovation Project (IIP), Northwestern University (Chair) #ChiWaterWeek
